Part display case, part sculpture, this 8.6M wide trophy cabinet is suspended between two concrete pillars. It hangs from a specially designed and fabricated structural steel beam hidden within the wooden cabinet.
Brighton College commissioned this contemporary display cabinet to be housed in, and in the shape of, their vibrant new science and sports building designed by internationally acclaimed architecture firm OMA.
Special Branch were chosen to design, make and install this unique piece of furniture.
The project was developed through scaled interpretations of the buildings unconventional and minimalist form. Dark wood, stainless steel and integrated LED lighting were chosen to further accentuate the school’s considerable array of sporting accolades.
“Marc and the team have been great to work with, creating a unique and high quality installation for our new building. Throughout the process, they have been diligent, efficient and helpful, with several meetings on our premises and progress visits at the workshop. The installation side of the work was very well planned and executed in less than ideal conditions.“
